Easter was a couple weekends ago and I got to share the big news with the rest of my extended family. Everyone was very excited, speculating whether it was a girl or boy and sharing all kinds of old wives tales with me. I especially like the one about hopping over Ryan in the middle of the night so that he gets my morning sickness. Can you just imagine that scenario... Ry waking up to me mid-hop wondering what the hell I'm doing. Baby burd also received their first pressies from their titas (or lolas?) Framie and Grace.
The very next day I had my 11 week appointment. Ryan skipped this one so I invited tita Lisa (shout-out : )) to come with. I found out I lost some weight due to the massive amounts of vomiting the week before so the doc gave me a prescription to help with the nausea and keep the vomiting to a minimum. This helped tremendously. We also had another ultrasound done and this was amazing! the differences between a 7 week ultrasound and an 11 week one is monumental. At 7 weeks the baby looks like a little blob with a heart beat, but by 11 weeks, the head and body are identifiable, the baby has arms and legs, and even eye sockets, nose and mouth are forming. It really is mind blowing how much the baby grows in such a short period of time. We heard a strong heartbeat and were told the baby is measuring at about 2 inches long, how cute : ) Baby burd was super active during our appointment. At one point during the ultrasound the baby was moving and the doc seemed as excited as Lisa and I to be witnessing it happen! Here is baby burd at 11 weeks looking like the cutest little alien I have ever seen! (since I have no idea how to work my scanner, these are pictures of pictures. sorry)
waving or giving the bird, not really sure
Since I lost a few pounds the doctor wanted me back in a week to monitor my weight and just make sure I wasn't losing anymore. I hadn't, so that was good news... and even better news was that we get to come back in TWO WEEKS to find out the sex of the babe! I was not expecting this, I was thinking he'd want me back in 4 weeks since I had this in-between appointment but he said we can come in if we want him to do a scan for the gender. Um, YES! This is all dependent of course on if baby burd cooperates that day as I'll only be 14 weeks and that is still super early to be able to tell. This is gonna be the longest 2 weeks of our lives, lots of speculation and many conversations regarding boy/girl this and boy/girl that will be going on for the next 14 days I'm sure.
Speaking of the sex of the baby, I did the Intelligender pee test. And the results are... INCONCLUSIVE! At first I thought it was totally orange, which means girl. But then Ryan was saying it looked green, which means boy. I think he was just trying to talk himself into it saying it looked green by looking at it from all kinds of levels and angles. Either way, the color of the urine is not distinctively one color or the other. Here, have a look and you decide.
Alright, I think I've caught up with all the current baby happs. Much more exciting news coming soon!
